BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A 12-year-old boy was behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle when they collided with a motorcyclist that later died in west Baltimore, police announced on Friday.
The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) said a 15-year-old girl was a passenger in the stolen vehicle at the time of the crash, and she has been arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft. She was taken to the Juvenile Justice Center.
Police said that due to the 12-year-old boy’s age, BPD submitted a Child In Need of Supervision referral and met with the Department of Juvenile Services to address the circumstances around the crash.
On Sept. 30 around 1:40 p.m., police responded to the 1800 block of North Dukeland Street for a reported crash.
Police said a motorcycle and the stolen sedan collided near the intersection of North Dukeland Street and West North Avenue.
69-year-old Barry Wright, of Baltimore County, was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.
The stolen sedan became disabled after the crash, according to police.
Authorities said that the boy and girl both ran from the car after the crash.
