WASHINGTON (7News) — Maryland’s highest court said it will not hear an appeal from Lee Boyd Malvo, one-half of the D.C. Sniper duo, as he tries to appeal several life sentences in the state.
The Maryland Supreme Court did not explain in its Friday decision why it rejected a petition from Malvo’s lawyers to weigh an earlier in-person hearing.

Malvo, 41, and his lawyers have fought for a resentencing hearing since 2022 after a state Supreme Court ruling that said juveniles could not be sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. Malvo was 17 at the time he and a man went on a shooting spree that impacted the entire D.C. region.
But issues arose when Malvo refused to appear virtually for the hearing, resulting in a Montgomery County judge ruling that they would not resentence him for the six murder convictions until he completes his four life sentences in Virginia.
In May of this year, an appeals court said the court could not override the judge’s decision, given that it was not filed as a final judgment.
