PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A 69-year-old woman killed in a Prince George’s County crash with a vehicle that was fleeing police has been identified.
Police said Deborah Saffran of Bowie died Wednesday evening following the wreck in the 2800 block of 9th Street.

Prior to the crash, police said officers tried to pull over a man wanted in an unrelated case in the area of Lanham Severn Road and Driscoll Drive. Investigators said the man initially pulled over, but then took off toward 9th Street. The officers who conducted the traffic stop were advised not to pursue, according to a news release.
About a half mile from the traffic stop, the man’s vehicle crossed the double yellow lines and slammed into Saffran’s car. She died at the scene.
A third vehicle was also hit, but that driver was not hurt. The man who had been fleeing was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be OK, according to police. Investigators have not released the man’s name or said what charges he may be facing.
The Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigation Division responded to the scene of the wreck, but ultimately declined to investigate.
