Annapolis felon gets 42 months in prison for stolen loaded handgun

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A Maryland felon who was on probation for assault has been sentenced to federal prison on firearm-possession charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of Maryland announced Thursday.

22-year-old Dalonte Ray Jones, of Annapolis, received a 42-month prison sentence, followed by three years of supervised release.

Authorities say Jones is prohibited from owning guns or ammunition after two second-degree assault convictions in January 2023 and April 2023. He was on probation for the April conviction when the crime occurred.

According to court documents, law enforcement searched Jones’s apartment on Nov. 11, 2024.

They found a Glock 17 semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine in his bedroom. The magazine, which can hold 45 rounds, had 17 live rounds inside.

Investigators determined the firearm had been reported stolen in 2023 and found the DNA of Jones and three others on the weapon.

Police say they later searched Jones’s iPhone under a warrant and found multiple videos of him with different firearms, including the handgun seized during the search.
