MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (7News) — An Empower rideshare driver was put behind bars after police said he raped a teenage girl in a Silver Spring, Maryland, parking lot, and authorities believe there may be other victims.
Abdoulaye Dia, of Lanham, is facing charges of first-degree rape, kidnapping, second-degree assault, and third-degree sex offense, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD).
Officers were called to a hospital Tuesday, Sept. 15, after a girl younger than 18 reported that she had been raped. She told officers that Dia drove her to a parking lot in Silver Spring, where the assault happened, police said.

Detectives identified Dia using information from the rideshare app. Montgomery County police arrested him Wednesday in Lanham.
He is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, police said.
Detectives with the Special Victims Investigations Division are asking anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Dia to call 240-773-5050.
