
Authorities in California issued an AMBER Alert for a missing 4-year-old girl after her mother was reportedly found dead inside a Los Angeles home, launching an urgent search for the child and a man investigators believe abducted her.
The California Highway Patrol on Tuesday identified the missing child as Daleza Fregoso, who was last seen with 40-year-old Ruben Fregoso in Los Angeles on Sunday around 4 a.m.
Investigators believe 40-year-old Ruben Fregoso kidnapped the girl, though authorities have not publicly confirmed the relationship between the two.
NBC4 Los Angeles reported Ruben Fregoso is believed to be the child’s father. Citing two unnamed sources, the media outlet reported that the child’s mother was found dead inside a home, prompting a murder investigation.
The outlet reported authorities are investigating the alleged murder in connection with the child’s disappearance.
Investigators said Ruben Fregoso and the child were believed to be traveling in a white 2019 Land Rover Discovery with California license plate 9DAW715. Authorities later found the vehicle, but both the suspect and the child remain missing.
The girl was described as 3 feet tall, weighing about 45 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Ruben Fregoso was described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
