MARYLAND (WBFF) — Anne Arundel County police are investigating an increase in thefts of driver-side airbags from parked vehicles in the Crofton, Hanover and Laurel areas.
Police said Honda Civics, Accords and HR-Vs have been targeted most frequently in recent incidents.
Residents are encouraged to park in well-lit, visible areas when a garage is unavailable and to make sure doors are locked and windows are closed.
Police also recommended using visible steering-wheel locks or other anti-theft devices, as well as alarms equipped with glass-break or impact detection.

Homeowners and business owners with security cameras are asked to review and preserve footage that may show suspicious people or vehicles near areas where the thefts occurred.
Police asked community members to provide any video or information directly to responding officers or investigators rather than posting it publicly, saying public disclosure could interfere with the investigation.
Anyone who sees a theft in progress should move to a safe location and call 911.
Residents who discover a theft after the fact can report it through the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s non-emergency line at 410-222-8610 or online.
