
BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD (WBFF) — More than three decades after a deadly fire tore through a Baltimore County home, police are again asking the public for help to solve the case.
On May 24, 1992, Mary Lee Gericke and her daughter, Victoria, died in an arson fire on Hadwick Drive, Baltimore County police said. The case remains unsolved.
The fire happened just past midnight in the 1400 block of Hadwick Drive. Residents were awakened by the smell of smoke as flames spread quickly.
Mary Lee Gericke and her daughter tried to escape through a second-floor window but died in the fire. The child was only eight.

Baltimore County investigators determined the fire was intentionally set.
A flammable liquid was found in the basement stairway, and the fire caused more than $500,000 in damage.
