BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A Baltimore man was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison after he assaulted a law enforcement officer while resisting arrest in May 2025, prosecutors said.
Demetris White, 44, was also sentenced to three years of supervised release for assaulting, resisting or impeding federal officers or employees.
According to court documents, White went to a Baltimore Social Security Administration office on May 19, 2025, to ask about his disability benefit payments.
He had lost the Direct Express debit card he used to access them.

White became upset when a customer service representative explained how to get a replacement card, documents said. The representative pressed a duress button, and security personnel asked White to leave.
Before leaving, White berated and threatened to physically assault and spit on security personnel, according to court documents.
A federal law enforcement officer responded and tried to arrest White outside the building.
White initially resisted, then allowed the officer to handcuff him after the officer pointed a taser at him and warned he would use it if White continued resisting.
Once handcuffed, White headbutted the officer backward, causing a cut to the officer’s lip and bleeding and swelling, documents said.
