Drivers in Howard County will encounter a long-term traffic change beginning next week as the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assists with a ramp closure tied to a roadway improvement project.

Starting Tuesday, July 7, the eastbound Broken Land Parkway ramp to southbound U.S. 29 will close while crews realign the ramp to connect with Symphony Woods Road.

The ramp is expected to remain closed until November, weather permitting, according to the State Highway Administration.

During construction, traffic from the ramp will instead connect to Symphony Woods Road at an existing signalized intersection.

The work is part of a larger developer-led construction project being completed through a State Highway Administration Access Permit.

Officials have established a detour for drivers traveling to southbound U.S. 29. Motorists should continue eastbound on Broken Land Parkway, take the exit to northbound U.S. 29, then travel to MD 175 to access southbound U.S. 29.
