COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WBFF) — Canvas was taken offline Thursday at all institutions using the technology, including the University of Maryland, College Park after the company that owns and manages the learning management system, Instructure, was recently compromised.
As the company investigates, Canvas will be unavailable, according to UMD’s Division of Information Technology.

It’s unclear when Canvas will be returned to service.
Around 4 p.m. on May 7, there was an unrelated interruption of UMD’s Wi-Fi network. Officials said that was caused by a configuration error of a network switch. The issue has since been resolved.
