MARYLAND (WBFF) — Gov. Wes Moore announced a slew of endorsements for political office on Thursday, but one name was missing from the list: Senate President Bill Ferguson.
According to a source, Ferguson went to Moore’s house recently seeking his endorsement. The two had conversations about endorsing each other, according to another source, but that didn’t happen. Ferguson attended Moore’s campaign launch event on May 2.

Gov. Moore and Ferguson have been at odds over midcycle redistricting in Maryland. Before the 2026 General Assembly session started in January, Moore launched a redistricting committee that held virtual meetings listening to constituents about the issue. The committee ultimately decided to move forward with the idea of midcycle redistricting as other states across the country started redrawing political maps. Throughout the process however, Ferguson argued against getting involved, citing a legal and political risk for Democrats.
Ultimately, the House of Delegates passed a new congressional map that sought to draw out U.S. Rep. Andy Harris, Maryland’s lone Republican member in Congress, and make Maryland’s map 8-0. But, Ferguson stood firm and the plan died in committee, even after a visit from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to further make the pitch.
The pair have been at odds over the issue of redistricting in Maryland. Despite not endorsing Ferguson, Moore didn’t endorse Ferguson’s his primary opponent, Bobby LaPin. LaPin, a social media personality and boat company owner, responded online to the endorsement news.
“Unlike my opponent, this campaign isn’t focused on politicians endorsing politicians,” he wrote on X. “The only endorsement I’m actively seeking is from the people of Baltimore. If the Governor, or any other leader, wants to endorse this campaign, it’s because they stand with the people.”
From local council races, to seats in the State House, Moore threw his support behind candidates up and down the ballot. Moore also endorsed Sarah David for Baltimore County State’s Attorney over incumbent Scott Shellenberger. In the rematch between Congresswoman April McClain Delaney and David Trone, who unsuccessfully ran for U.S. Senate in 2024, Moore backed Delaney.
“We have delivered enormous progress for the people of Maryland since taking office, but there is still more work to do, and these are the leaders who will help us finish the job,” Gov. Moore said via statement. “In order to continue record drops in violent crime, keep lowering costs for Maryland families, and make our schools even stronger I need a team that will push back against Washington and push forward to build a Maryland that leaves no one behind.”
Moore also backed Vanessa Atterbeary for Howard County Executive, Julian Jones for Baltimore County Executive, and House Speaker Joseline Pena-Melnyk.
