Officers responded to reports of an alarm at a Wells Fargo Bank located at 1726 East Northern Parkway in northeast Baltimore around 5:38 a.m. Sunday.
Investigators said an unknown suspect(s) used an excavator to rip the ATM from the front of the branch building.
The construction equipment was left at the scene.
According to dispatch audio, responding officers also located a truck and trailer at the scene, and traced both back to a construction company in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
An employee there told FOX45 News the truck and trailer had been reported stolen, and the excavator did not belong to the company.
The employee would not say when the truck and trailer were stolen, and declined an interview.
Baltimore Police would not comment on the believed recovery of the truck and trailer.
The BPD did confirm detectives have obtained surveillance footage of the crime, but have declined to share it at this time.
It’s also unclear how many suspects the Department is looking for, and approximately how much cash is believed to have been stolen.
Wells Fargo declined to comment on the investigation.
On Monday, the bank branch was closed; however, an ATM that still exists in the rear of the building appeared to still be operational.
The investigation is ongoing.
