On Thursday, Baltimore police announced the arrest of 20-year-old Tyshawn Brown, of Baltimore, in connection to the crime.
Brown is facing 10 criminal counts, including first-degree murder and numerous weapons violations.
According to newly obtained charging documents, Brown was one of several people who went to the home after someone contacted an individual to arrange a fist fight over an alleged robbery attempt.
In the statement of charges investigators wrote, “the group of six individuals entered the house and immediately went down to the basement, where they came across Jaythan Day. A physical altercation occurred between several of the males in the basement. Three gunshots were heard by witnesses in the house, and everyone at the location then exited the house and ran.”
The charging documents went on to say witnesses identified Brown as the individual who had committed the shooting, and two others confirmed he was at the location and involved in the incident.
