Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services‘ Station 11 received a call from the police department’s animal control about a few raccoons in need of help.

Animal Control was first contacted about an adult raccoon stuck in a tree, but after rescuing and releasing it, crews realized the raccoon had been trying to get to its babies trapped even deeper inside the tree.

The kits were too young to climb out of the tree and the tree was too narrow for the mother raccoon to reach them, officials said.
