Crofton man arrested after gun found under passenger seat during traffic stop in Laurel

A Crofton man was arrested Thursday night after officers recovered a handgun from under his seat during a traffic stop in Laurel, the Anne Arundel County Police Department announced Friday morning.

On July 23, around 10:35 p.m., officers were in the 3300 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road when they stopped a Volkswagen Jetta for a traffic violation.

Police said the passenger was acting in a suspicious manner during the traffic stop.

Officers searched the vehicle and found a firearm directly under the seat the passenger was sitting in.

The passenger, identified as 25-year-old Jordan Tyron McKinley, was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and numerous related charges.
