President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcome King Charles III and Queen Camilla to Washington, D.C., on Monday, April 27.

The visit will take place April 27-28, although, the king’s trip to the United States will extend through April 30.

The first lady led the preparations for the visit, according to a statement on The White House website.

“First Lady Melania Trump led the preparations for the State Visit, which will honor the longstanding and special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom as the American people mark 250 years of independence.”

The visit marks the first time King Charles and his wife visited during Trump’s second term.

Activities on the agenda for Monday include tea in the Green Room, followed by a tour of the White House Beehive.

On Tuesday, a military arrival ceremony – a standing tradition since the 18th century – takes place on the South Lawn, followed by the Inspection of the Troops and a Troop in Review.

A bilateral meeting between Trump and the king will then follow, as the first lady and Queen Camilla separate from their husbands to meet with American students for a cross-cultural education event at the White House Tennis Pavilion.

On Tuesday evening, the two couples will attend the state dinner in the East Room.

King Charles and his wife visit New York City after their visit to the White House, but will make one last stop on the morning of Thursday, April 30, to the Diplomatic Reception Room to say goodbye to Trump and the first lady.
