Fatal crash shuts I-270 in Montgomery County

A person was killed in a rollover crash Saturday morning on northbound Interstate 270 near Montrose Road in Montgomery County, authorities said.

According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer, emergency crews responded to the scene around 9:15 a.m. for a report of a collision involving entrapment and traumatic injury.

Responders found a vehicle overturned on a guardrail with debris scattered across the roadway, and multiple northbound lanes were blocked as crews worked the scene.

Fire officials said the patient was in cardiac arrest and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash also involved roadway debris, including concrete, that contributed to lane closures and traffic disruption in the area.

The Maryland State Police are investigating the cause of the collision.
