Man charged with first-degree murder in deadly shooting of Mervo student

A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of a 16-year-old Mervo High School student last month, the Baltimore Police Department announced Thursday.

Tyshawn Brown was arrested and charged on Monday after he allegedly shot and killed Jaythan Day back in March.

On March 6, around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 1400 block of West Old Cold Spring Lane for a reported shooting.

According to dispatch audio, Day was found shot in the basement of the home. He was later pronounced dead.

On April 13, Brown was taken into custody while in the 2400 block of Callow Avenue.

He was then transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with first-degree murder.
