Arriving officers and medics provided emergency care before the woman was rushed to the hospital.
Deputy Chief Robert Liberati described the shooting as a domestic incident and said children were inside the home at the time. Police have not revealed the number or ages of the kids or said whether they are related to both people involved.
“This is a family; they are a part of this community and have lived here for a number of years,” Liberati said Thursday.
Police said there is no outstanding threat to the community.
The shooting is still under investigation.
