ROCKVILLE, Md. (7News) — A Montgomery County judge sentenced Kalayan Stoev to 120 years in prison Monday for the shooting deaths of two people in January 2025.
The sentencing hearing was held Sept. 28 in Montgomery County Circuit Court, where Judge John Maloney imposed the sentence.
A jury found Stoev guilty April 23 of two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony and two counts of possessing a firearm while prohibited.

The charges stem from the shooting deaths of 26-year-old Marcell Hebron and 27-year-old Leilani Marroquin.

At about 3:15 a.m. on Jan. 17, 2025, a Montgomery County police officer found Hebron’s body behind the wheel of a disabled white BMW stopped at Shady Grove Road and Research Boulevard in Rockville.
About four hours later, at approximately 7:40 a.m., Rockville City police officers responded to a report of a dead person in the parking lot of a hotel at 2 Research Court. Officers found Marroquin’s body at the scene.
According to the investigation, Stoev used two loaded handguns to shoot Hebron inside and outside the vehicle. Investigators said Hebron was shot 27 times.
Marroquin fled the vehicle, but investigators said Stoev shot her five times from the side and from behind. She fell to the ground and later was found dead.
A jury found Stoev guilty of two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and two counts of possessing a firearm while prohibited.
Assistant State’s Attorneys Ashley Inderfurth and Demort Garrett prosecuted the case.
