CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A fugitive wanted for several sexual offenses involving a child has been caught in Charles County, Maryland, the sheriff’s office said.
Jose Mercedes Pineda-Callejas, 45, was indicted by a grand jury in April on multiple counts of rape, sexual assault and other similar offenses. He was arrested Thursday in Landover.

Members of the sheriff’s office Judicial Services Section assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division helped make the arrest.
