WASHINGTON (7News) — A D.C. judge found a Maryland man guilty of assaulting a woman on a Metro train and posting videos online of the incidents earlier this year.
Bryan Betancur received the verdict during Wednesday’s non-jury trial after he was arrested in March after Metro Transit police investigated the assault recorded in late February.
Prosecutors presented five witnesses and 30 exhibits in the case, while Betancur’s defense presented nothing, according to court records.
The 28-year-old, who pleaded guilty to his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, was initially released on bail in March but has remained in D.C. custody since April for a stalking charge. Court documents from the time showed Betancur allegedly harassed and stalked a woman at a pop-up event in Northwest D.C. and later went to a Supreme Court protest to search for the same woman.
His sentencing is set for Thursday.
Betancur still faces similar charges in Arlington County, Virginia.
