With Maryland’s 2026 primary election nearing, state elections officials are urging residents to check their voter registration status and act before key deadlines.

The Maryland State Board of Elections reminded Marylanders that there are multiple ways to register to vote or update an existing registration ahead of the primary.

Maryland is at its strongest when residents make their voices heard in our electoral process, and that starts with registering to vote,” SBE Administrator Jared DeMarinis said. “By registering early and making a plan to vote, Marylanders take an active role in shaping the future through our democratic process.

Marylanders can register in three ways:

  • Online: The preliminary deadline to register or update voter registration online is Tuesday, June 2, using the State Board of Elections’ online registration system.
  • By mail: Residents can register by printing a voter registration form and mailing it by June 2. Mailed registrations must be postmarked by that date. Voters also can submit the form at their local board of elections. Forms are available in English and Spanish.
  • In person: Residents can register during early voting from Thursday, June 11, to Thursday, June 18, or on primary election day, Tuesday, June 23. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m. will be able to register.

State elections officials said a list of early voting locations will be posted online.

Voters registering in person should bring a document that proves where they live when they attempt to vote at their local polling place or early voting center.
