ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A 22-year-old Lexington Park man has been sentenced to life in prison for an attempted murder involving four men during a 2025 road rage incident.
According to the St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, Peyton James Robert Curtis was involved in a verbal altercation with the victims at a gas station on Three Notch Road in California, Maryland, on May 3.

Authorities said that after leaving the gas station, Curtis fired multiple shots into the passenger side of the victims’ vehicle.
Two men were shot in the leg, a third suffered a graze wound, and the fourth was unharmed.

“The decision to escalate a verbal exchange into life-threatening gun violence put countless lives at risk,” said State’s Attorney Jaymi Sterling. “By pursuing another vehicle and opening fire on a busy roadway, the Defendant and his associates endangered innocent members of the public and demonstrated a complete disregard for human life and the safety of everyone nearby.”
