A temporary closure of MD 161 (Darlington Road) bridge over Deer Creek in Harford County will begin July 14 as crews remove debris beneath the bridge from recent storms, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation.

The closure will last approximately 4 days, beginning at 9 a.m. July 14, and the bridge will reopen to all traffic by Friday, July 17, weather permitting.

Maintenance crews will work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. using a crane and other heavy equipment to remove trees and other large debris lodged under the bridge in Deep Creek at the bridge abutment, officials said.

During the closures, drivers on MD 161 between US 1 (Conowingo Road) and MD 155 (Level Road) may use US 1, MD 136 (Priestford Road), and MD 155 as alternate routes.

In the event of inclement weather, officials said debris removal and daytime closures will take place on the next available day.
