More than $1.2 million in alleged cocaine seized

HIDALGO, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized $1,245,100 worth of alleged cocaine in two separate incidents, officials said.

On May 10, CBP officers at the Hidalgo International Bridge cargo facility encountered a Honda sedan arriving from Reynosa, Mexico. After a secondary inspection using a canine team, officers discovered 25 packages of alleged cocaine concealed within the vehicle. The narcotics weighed 57.32 pounds, or 26 kilograms.

On May 12, CBP officers at the Pharr International Bridge encountered a Chrysler sedan arriving from Reynosa, Mexico. Following a secondary inspection, officers discovered 14 packages of alleged cocaine concealed within the vehicle. The narcotics weigh 35.93 pounds, or 16.3 kilograms.

CBP officers seized the narcotics and vehicles. Homeland Security Investigations special agents arrested the drivers and initiated criminal investigations.
