WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump had lunch delivered right to the Oval Office’s doorstep on Monday afternoon.
Trump was greeted at the door of the Oval Office by a woman wearing a shirt that said “DoorDash Grandma,” carrying two bags of McDonald’s.
“I have a DoorDash order for you, Mr. President,” Sharon Simmons said, handing the bags to Trump.
This doesn’t look staged, does it?” Trump joked, showing off the order to the media gathered outside the Oval Office.
The president said he had the delivery made because he learned that Simmons had picked up an extra $11,000 under the No Tax on Tips policy passed as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill.
Simmons, a Dasher from Arkansas who’s made over 14,000 deliveries, made the delivery to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in honor of the policy’s first anniversary.
It’s really, you know, we call it the great, big beautiful bill. We should call it the great, big beautiful tax cut bill because it’s tremendous amounts of money,” Trump said.
She is a grandmother of 10 who started dashing in 2022 to earn money while maintaining her schedule outside of work, DoorDash said in a news release.
“It was an incredible honor to represent Dashers from all over the country at the White House today. Thanks to DoorDash, I have been able to provide for my family while keeping the schedule that works best for me, something I never thought would be possible. Now No Tax on Tips has taken things to the next level, letting me keep more of the tips I earn and deserve,” Simmons said. “Today is a celebration of the advocacy of thousands of Dashers from around the country who fought to ensure we were included in this policy.”

The company said that since No Tax on Tips was enacted, they estimate Dashers have saved “hundreds of millions of dollars.”
“This moment represents something bigger than a single delivery. It’s about the millions of Dashers across the country who are now able to keep more of what they earn when filing their taxes this year. With No Tax on Tips, Dashers across the U.S. saved hundreds of millions of dollars last year. DoorDash is proud to advocate on behalf of Dashers like Sharon and push for policies like No Tax on Tips because they deliver real impact to so many hardworking people and their families,” said Max Rettig, DoorDash’s Global Head of Public Policy.
White House Director of Communications Steven Cheung shared a photo of a McDonald’s burger, writing, “Couldn’t wait. Had to dig in.”
During Trump’s interaction with Simmons, he took questions from reporters with Simmons by his side.
“Would you like to do a little news conference with me with these people? These are not the nicest people. They’re not nice like you, you know that, right?” Trump said.
“I’ll do whatever you ask me to do, sir,” Simmons replied.
Trump said it was an honor to meet Simmons, saying he thinks she voted for him, to which Simmons replied, “Uh, maybe.”
“I heard you’re a great supporter. We appreciate it,” Trump replied.

When asked about a now-deleted Truth Social post, including a photo of Trump depicted as Jesus Christ, Trump said, “Well, it wasn’t depicted. It was me. I did post it and I thought it was me as a doctor. And, had to do with Red Cross, as a Red Cross worker there, which we support.”
“Only the fake news could come up with that one,” Trump said. “I just heard about it and I said, how did they come up with that? It’s supposed to be me as a doctor making people better. And I do make people better. I make people, a lot better.”
Trump then references Simmons’ husband, who is going through cancer treatments and how the money she is making from DoorDash is helping her family.
In response to another round of potential talks with Iran, Trump praised Vice President JD Vance, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner for their efforts.
He said they have been called by the other side [Iran] and want to make a deal “very badly.”
“The fact that they will never have a nuclear weapon. Iran, you marking it down? Iran will not have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said. “And we agreed to a lot of things, but they didn’t agree to that. And I think they will agree to it. I’m almost sure of it. In fact, I am sure of it.”
Trump was then asked about his blockade at the Strait of Hormuz, and whether the goal of the blockade is to open up the strait so gas prices go down or to force Iran back to the table.
“I mean, both of those things, certainly. And more. We can’t let a country blackmail or extort the world because that’s what they’re doing. They’re really blackmailing the world and we’re not going to let that happen.”
When asked if he would apologize to Pope Leo as the two trade barbs over the war in Iran, Trump said, “No, I don’t. Because Pope Leo said things that are wrong.”
“He was very much against what I’m doing with regard to Iran. And you could not have a nuclear Iran. Pope Leo would not be happy with the end result,” Trump said, going on to reiterate that he feels Pope Leo is weak on crime.
