Police investigating overnight burglary and sexual assault in Severn

Severn (WBFF) — Anne Arundel County Police are investigating a burglary and sexual assault that occurred early Sunday morning in Severn.

Officers with the department’s Western District responded around 1:10 a.m. on April 12 to a home in the 700 block of Old Donaldson Avenue for a reported breaking and entering.

According to police, an adult woman told officers she woke up to find an unknown man sitting on her bed and sexually assaulting her.

The victim began screaming, at which point the suspect fled the home after being confronted.

Responding officers, along with a K9 unit, searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Investigators say the incident appears to be random.

The suspect is described as a white male who was wearing a gray or black hoodie or sweatshirt.
