On the evening of May 12, officers were called to the 300 block of Pine Street for reports of a dog stranded and unable to safely get down from a rooftop, police said.

When officers arrived, they spoke with a neighboring resident who allowed police into their home, so Officer A. Flores could go through a second-floor rear window and climb onto the rooftop.

Once Officer Flores reached the top of the row of homes, she sat and calmly persuaded the furry friend to come to her, officials said.

Once she safely secured the pup, crews with the Baltimore County Fire Department assisted the officer and the dog safely off the roof.

Police believe the dog likely exited the home through an upstairs window that had been left open.

Once the dog got on the roof, it was unable to safely return home because of the structure’s steep pitch, according to police.
