Police: Officer shot loose dog after it attacked two women and their pet in Baltimore

A Baltimore police officer shot and killed a loose dog after it attacked two women and their pet dog on Friday, according to authorities.

The officer saw two dogs chasing after two women in the 1200 block of West Franklin Street around 7:25 p.m.

One of the loose dogs ran off while the other one began attacking the women and the pet dog. That’s when the officer deployed his Taser, police said.

The Taser did not stop the loose dog. So, the officer pulled out his department-issued weapon and shot the dog.

Police said the dog died from its injuries.

Animal Control staff went to the shooting site to treat the dog that was attacked and remove the dead dog from the location, according to authorities.

Forensics investigators were dispatched to the location to assist with collecting evidence.

The Baltimore Police Department’s Special Investigations Response Team has opened an investigation into the incident.
