BALTIMORE, MD (WBFF) — The Baltimore Police Department has released surveillance video of two people sought in connection to a shooting at an Upton playground earlier this week that left an 11-year-old boy and a man injured.
Shortly after 7:40 p.m. on May 27, officers were called to the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Dolphin Street for a reported shooting. Furman L Templeton Elementary School and Robert C. Marshall Recreation Center are located nearby.
When officers arrived, they found both an 11-year-old boy and 26-year-old man shot. The child sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen, officials said.
Both victims were taken to local hospitals.
The video shows that two people pulled up in a vehicle across the street from a playground and shot towards that area.
The adult victim is believed to have been the target, Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said during a press conference Wednesday night.
“We have two people shot, including an 11-year-old child who has absolutely nothing to do with whatever you’re beefing about,” Mayor Brandon Scott said Wednesday. “Really, this is a time for the city. Someone knows who did this. We have to not allow these folks to be held and hid and hide or just be in plain sight, sleeping on our couch, hiding them out in the basement if you know who they are.”
Baltimore City Public Schools confirmed the 11-year-old shot attends Furman L. Templeton Preparatory Academy.
Anyone with information is urged to call detectives at 410-396-2477.
