Prince George’s County domestic shooting leaves woman injured, suspect dead

TEMPLE HILLS, Md. (7News) — A woman is hospitalized after Prince George’s County police said her boyfriend shot her during a domestic incident Tuesday morning.

The suspect was later found dead inside his vehicle from what police believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police said they received a call about a domestic shooting around 7:15 a.m. in the 5300 block of Fisher Road.

The woman told officers her boyfriend shot her before fleeing the area in a vehicle.

While responding to the shooting, officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 4800 block of St. Barnabas Road.

Police said the vehicle had heavily tinted windows; however, officers determined it was the vehicle involved in the incident.

Officers attempted to get the suspect out of the vehicle, but the situation was declared a barricade.

Police eventually approached the vehicle and found the suspect deceased inside. He was the sole occupant, and investigators believe he suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital.

“This is a very tragic incident. It’s going to be very difficult for the victim, the victim’s family, also the suspect’s family. Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone involved,” a police spokesperson said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
