An accused would-be carjacker is facing charges in Prince George’s County after a Lyft driver fought back, blasting her attacker with “bear spray” before pulling a knife on him.

The attempted carjacking happened on Friday, just after 9 p.m. in the 7500 block of Ardwick Ardmore Road, according to Prince George’s County police.

Sources tell 7News’ Brad Bell that the driver was hailed by a teen boy.

The victim, who 7News is keeping anonymous, said she was suspicious and seated the rider on the passenger’s side of her car to keep an eye on him. She said the would-be carjacker pulled a knife on her and demanded her key.

“I said, ‘Oh it’s in my app.’ I’m messing around with my phone, I reach over, and I grabbed the bear spray, and I sprayed him, then I took out (my) knife and I started juking with the knife,” the victim said.

The woman said she struggled with the teen, who initially took off but came back to try to take her phone.

“When he went to take my phone, I put my body on top of him and we started to fight,” she said.

Eventually, the teen wrestled free from the victim and took off. She said a neighbor witnessed the attack and called 911.

The woman said she wasn’t scared at all during the attack and credits remaining calm for being able to fight off the accused attacker.

“My instinct just kicked in and said, ‘Use your brain,’ because when I resisted the first time, he didn’t do anything; I just said, ‘Oh, he’s soft. He’s not a real robber,” the victim said.
