CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (7News) — Students at St. Charles High School in Waldorf, Maryland, are being dismissed early Thursday after school administrators recovered a second gun on campus.
In a letter sent to families, Principal Tammika Little said the firearm was found in a student’s locker during follow-up efforts tied to a gun recovery from the previous day.

School officials said all students and staff are safe and accounted for. The campus was placed in a Hold Status as a precaution while law enforcement continued its investigation.
As a safety measure, officials said the school began early dismissal around 10:15 a.m. Bus riders will be dismissed first, followed by car riders and students who walk to and from campus.
School officials are asking students to leave bookbags in their lockers.
“We are asking students to leave their bookbags behind in lockers. Students who need to collect personal items from their lockers should notify an administrator,” the school letter stated.
Students who use shuttle transportation for programs at North Point High School, Robert D. Stethem Educational Center, and the Early College Program at College of Southern Maryland will complete their school day and receive transportation at the normal dismissal time.
There will be no after-school or evening activities at St. Charles High School on Thursday.
School officials said additional information about the investigation will be shared later in the day.
