Officers responded to The Cut Bar & Restaurant at 2570 Business Park Court around 1:46 a.m. Oct. 31 for a report of a stabbing and shooting.
Investigators said a confrontation between two men escalated when one pulled out a knife and threatened the other. A security guard working at the bar intervened, trying to take control of the man’s hand and the knife.
The man stabbed the other man once in the abdomen, according to the sheriff’s office. As he appeared to attempt another stabbing, the guard fired his gun, striking him once in the chest, investigators said.
The man who was shot, identified as William Pierre Strong, 41, of Waldorf, walked outside and collapsed in the parking lot. Responding officers found him still holding the knife, the sheriff’s office said.
Officers and emergency medical personnel provided aid, but Strong was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man who was stabbed was treated for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, authorities said. Authorities did not release the name of the victim or the security guard.
Detectives are investigating the death as a homicide and will present the case to the Charles County State’s Attorney’s Office for review. The release did not announce any charges.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Logsdon at 301-609-6436.
