Seven candidates are seeking to fill the vacant District 3 seat on the Baltimore County Council following former Councilman Wade Kach’s resignation earlier this month.
Kach, a Republican who represented the northernmost parts of the county for nearly 12 years, stepped down in early May, citing health reasons. Among those applying for his vacant seat are his former chief of staff, a former council member and a state delegate.
Whomever the Baltimore County Republican Central Committee taps to fill the seat will serve out the remainder of Kach’s term, which runs through early December.
The central committee will hold a public hearing Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Timonium to interview candidates and take public comments. Eligible District 3 central committee members will vote on a nominee immediately after the hearing.
