A man was arrested Friday and charged with first- and second-degree murder, almost six months after a 28-year-old was killed near a bar in Northeast Baltimore.

Court records show a judge ordered that Jimmy Charles, 36, be held without bond Monday on three felonies, two misdemeanors and a single firearm offense.

Charles, a Baltimore resident, did not have an attorney listed.

Police said during an interview Thursday, Charles confessed to shooting Keyon Smith just after midnight on Dec. 7, shortly after the pair walked out of Freddie’s Sports Bar and Grill together in the 7200 block of Harford Road.
