SUN: Baltimore officials asked to approve $51K social media consulting deal

Baltimore’s Board of Estimates is being asked to approve a $51,183.60 contract for a consultant to manage Councilman Jermaine Jones’ social media, handle media relations and boost his public visibility — a nearly identical request to one submitted last year.

The proposed 12-month agreement with Johnson Advisory Group, LLC, scheduled for consideration Wednesday, mirrors a June 2025 request for the same amount and services.

Jeff Castro, communications manager for the Office of the City Council President, confirmed Friday that the contract, if approved, would serve Jones’ District 12 office.

It would be the second such agreement submitted for Jones’ office in less than two years. The Board of Estimates considered a $51,183.60 contract with the same firm in June 2025, covering a 12-month period ending June 3, 2026. The previous agreement listed virtually identical responsibilities and the same city funding account, according to Board of Estimates records.
