MARYLAND — Drone flights will be prohibited in and around the Maryland State Fairgrounds during this year’s fair under temporary airspace restrictions established by the Federal Aviation Administration, Baltimore County police said.
The restriction will be in effect from Aug. 27 through Sept. 13 and will cover a half-nautical-mile radius around the fairgrounds in Timonium, police said.
The FAA’s temporary flight restriction, or TFR, prohibits unauthorized drone operations during the designated period, including by pilots with standard airspace authorization, officials said.
Drone operators should check the FAA’s B4UFLY service and official TFR notices before flying, police said. Violating the restrictions is a federal offense that can result in fines of up to $100,000, up to a year in prison and seizure of the drone.
