HARFORD COUNTY Md. (WBFF) — A Harford County K-9 officer says she lost her dog, her shift and her rank on the same day her captain filed a report that a fellow deputy had been sexually harassing her, according to a federal lawsuit against Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler.
Former Deputy First Class Paige Yedinak’s suit, filed Oct. 21, accuses Gahler of retaliating against her for reporting the harassment. It comes as Gahler, a Republican, seeks a fourth term in next week’s election.
The sheriff’s office says it investigated the allegations and would not comment further.
Yedinak, of Elkton, began working with the sheriff’s office in 2021, according to the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court of Maryland. Yedinak and her K-9, Ricky, received patrol certification in July 2024.
