BALTIMORE COUNTY (WBFF) — A Baltimore County judge on Wednesday ordered Anthony Lechner to a state psychiatric facility after ruling he was not criminally responsible for killing his wife, despite objections from her children and family, who argued the investigation left critical questions unanswered.
Lechner, 56, was found not criminally responsible by reason of mental disorder or intellectual disability in the Sept. 29 fatal stabbing of his 56-year-old wife Kimberly inside the couple’s Monkton home. Baltimore County Circuit Judge Evelyn Cusson ordered him committed to a Maryland Department of Health facility for institutional inpatient treatment and care.
Before the ruling by Baltimore County Circuit Judge Evelyn Cusson, Lechner told the court that he and his wife were best friends and said he did not understand what happened that morning.
“I don’t know what happened really,” Lechner said. “I love my wife. I’ll say it ’til the day I die.”
