A 17-year-old boy involved in Wednesday’s fight at Blake High School is facing charges for carrying a gun, which went off during the incident, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

Officials said the Silver Spring, Md., teen got into an argument with several other boys at the parking lot of the 300 block of Norwood Road on April 29 before a fight broke out. The teen, police said, was seen holding the handgun before others tried to take it away, but at some point the gun went off, and everyone fled.

The 17-year-old boy received gunshot wounds in the foot and knee, officials said.

The teen was told to drop the weapon by a Montgomery County Community Engagement Officer, and the 17-year-old and several others took themselves to the hospital, officials said.

Earlier this week, 19-year-old Djibia Gombo was arrested and accused of first-degree assault in connection with the incident. Police said Friday that Gombo is believed to have picked up the firearm after the officer told the teen to drop it.
