Three arrested in Catonsville jewelry thefts; 150 pieces and $14K recovered

Three people were arrested for stealing at least 150 pieces of jewelry and more than $14,000 from the Catonsville area since January, the Baltimore County Police Department announced Thursday.

20-year-old Mihali Alexandru, 26-year-old Versalona Nicu, and 23-year-old Mihaela Alexandru were arrested in connection with a series of robberies and thefts that spanned from January 6 through April 9.

According to officials, the suspects would ask victims for directions or offer them a blessing while inside a vehicle.

Victims would engage and be encouraged to come closer to or lean inside the vehicle.

Once the victim was within reach, the suspects would allegedly remove their necklaces before driving away.

Here are the dates and locations of their alleged crimes:

  • January 6 – 5500 block of Baltimore National Pike – Armed Robbery
  • February 9 – 6500 block of Baltimore National Pike – Robbery
  • February 15 – 6500 block of Baltimore National Pike –Theft
  • March 14 – 6500 block of Baltimore National Pike –Theft
  • March 17 – 6600 block of Baltimore National Pike – Theft
  • April 7 – 6500 block of Baltimore National Pike – Theft
  • April 9 – 900 block of Frederick Road – Robbery

More than $14,000 and over 150 pieces of jewelry have been recovered, according to police.

All three suspect were transported to the Baltimore County Detention Center and held without bail.
