Three men charged in drug trafficking conspiracy spanning California to Maryland

MARYLAND (WBFF) — Three men from Maryland and California have been charged in a cross-country drug trafficking conspiracy that investigators say moved large amounts of methamphetamine from the West Coast to Maryland, according to the Maryland U.S. Attorney’s Office.

A superseding indictment charges Samir Footman, 38, of Halethorpe; Kenny Guyton, 44, of Glen Burnie; and Marcus McDaniel, 45, of Stockton, California, with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances. Footman is also charged with firearm trafficking and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The co-conspirators possessed with the intent to distribute nearly six kilograms of pure crystal methamphetamine and about 10 kilograms of methamphetamine pills, according to the indictment. Authorities also say Footman sold a firearm as part of his role in the conspiracy.

According to officials, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) agents began investigating Footman in September 2025 as a suspected narcotics dealer in the Annapolis area. During the investigation, ATF used confidential informants and undercover agents to conduct multiple controlled narcotics purchases from Footman, and investigators later identified Guyton as Footman’s narcotics supplier.

During the undercover operation, authorities say undercover agents purchased quantities of cocaine and fentanyl, along with more than 4.5 kilograms of methamphetamine pills and about 450 grams of crystal methamphetamine from Footman and Guyton. Investigators also allege Footman sold a Glock 19X 9mm pistol to a recipient “knowing or having reason to believe that the possession of the firearm by the recipient would constitute a felony.”

On April 24, 2026, investigators executed search and arrest warrants at residences associated with Footman and Guyton, seizing a firearm, ammunition, a pill press and about 2.7 kilograms of additional methamphetamine pills. Law enforcement also recovered Guyton’s cell phone.

Investigators said they found a message exchange on Guyton’s phone with a contact saved as “Blindman.” Guyton sent a Maryland address, and the contact replied, “Money order or cashier’s check.” Authorities also found a U.S. Postal Service tracking number linked to a package, and inside that parcel law enforcement uncovered about 5.3 kilograms of pure methamphetamine. Because investigators recognized the company brand of the shipping materials, they obtained transaction information from the company’s California-based location and reviewed footage that authorities say shows McDaniel buying the shipping materials.

A second USPS tracking number found on Guyton’s phone led investigators to another parcel containing a cashier’s check for $6,700 payable from Guyton to McDaniel, which authorities say was payment for the crystal methamphetamine shipment.

An indictment is not a finding of guilt, and those charged are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

If convicted, Footman, Guyton and McDaniel each face a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in federal prison on the conspiracy charge, according to prosecutors.

Sentencing would be determined by a federal district judge after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
