Traffic modifications, parking for AFRAM Festival to begin Friday

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (DOT) is advising drivers of road closures and parking restrictions in effect for the 50th annual AFRAM Festival.

The festival will be held in Baltimore City’s Druid Hill Park on Friday, June 19 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Grove Road between Red and Shop Roads will be closed from 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17 until 12 p.m. on Monday, June 22.

The following roadways will be closed to traffic starting at 3 p.m. on Thursday and will remain closed until approximately 12:00 p.m. on Monday, with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Wyman Park Drive at Sisson Street (local access will be maintained to the Boy Scouts of America and the Johns Hopkins Institute for Assured Autonomy)
  • Swann Drive at Druid Park Lake Drive
  • Beechwood Drive at Gwynns Falls Parkway (local access will be maintained to The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore)

Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis and attendants will be onsite to direct vehicles.

Parking will be permitted in the following areas while space is available:

  • Mansion House Lawn
  • Chinese Grove
  • ADA parking will be available in the park at the East Drive parking lot (from 3001 down to the pool), accessible from the Sisson Street entrance to Druid Hill Park.

Transit:

AFRAM attendees are strongly encouraged to use transit or rideshare to Mondawmin and take the free shuttles directly to the park. The closest MDOT MTA Bus Lines to the Mondawmin Station are LocalLinks 22, 26, 29, 79, 82, 83, 85, 91, and CityLinks Navy and Lime.

Rideshare:

The Lyft/Uber drop off location is located at 3001 East Drive, entering the park from the Sisson Street entrance of Druid Hill Park.

AFRAM is one of the largest African-American festivals on the east coast, according to the festival’s website.
