Two arrested after Harford County pursuit injures Bel Air police officers and deputy

Two people were arrested following a police pursuit that injured multiple officers in Harford County on Saturday, according to authorities.

Police said Janay Ellenore Morrison, 18, of Baltimore County, and a man whom they referred to as John Doe were spotted traveling in a stolen vehicle a little after 2 p.m.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle in the parking lot of Raising Cane’s. Before they did that, though, Morrison, who was allegedly a passenger in the vehicle, had gotten out of it and gone into the restaurant.

Police said that Doe fled when officers from the Bel Air Police Department and deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop the vehicle.

During the incident, Doe allegedly used the stolen vehicle to hit an officer and a deputy who were standing outside of their vehicles. Additionally, Doe struck and damaged vehicles belonging to law enforcement officers, according to authorities.

That’s when a short-lived police pursuit began. Doe was apprehended soon after he exited the vehicle and fled on foot in the Jarrettsville area.

Police said officers found Morrison and arrested her, too. She was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest.

Doe was charged with two counts of attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, theft and possession of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, hit-and-run offenses, malicious destruction of property, and multiple traffic violations, according to authorities.

Two Bel Air Police officers were injured during the police pursuit. One of them was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center with injuries that did not appear to endanger his life. The other one received treatment at a local hospital.

Additionally, a deputy sustained minor injuries. He was not taken to a hospital, though, police said.
