
WESTMINSTER, Md. (WBFF) — The Westminster Police Department is investigating what they say appears to be a domestic violence-related murder-suicide after two people were found dead inside a home Sunday morning.
Police said officers were called to a residence on E. Main Street at about 8:29 a.m. Sunday, April 19, for a reported shooting.
A caller told police that an adult family member shot another adult family member and that the shooter fled the home with the firearm. Police said the status of the two family members inside the residence was unknown at the time of the call.
Westminster police and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded and established a perimeter, then met with the caller and conducted a preliminary interview to verify the information. E. Main Street was temporarily closed to ensure public safety, police said.

According to police, attempts to contact the family members inside the residence were unsuccessful. At about 8:43 a.m., the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Team and Crisis Negotiations Team were activated. At about 9:59 a.m., the Crisis Response Team entered the home and found two deceased individuals.
The Westminster Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau has taken over the investigation, with assistance from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit and the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office. The incident is being investigated as a domestic violence-related murder-suicide, and police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Police said the identities of the deceased are not being released at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
