PGPD said two people were injured, including one victim who was critically wounded.

Sources told 7News the incident began in the Riverdale area, where 911 callers reported someone driving around and firing a gun into the air.

Sources said Prince George’s County police pursued the suspected shooter and took the person into custody in Greenbelt.

There are no outstanding suspects at this time, according to police.

The Greenbelt Police Department said it was helping Prince George’s County police with an investigation into a suspected armed carjacking that occurred outside Greenbelt’s jurisdiction.

Greenbelt Police said the incident ended near Edmonston Road and Greenbelt Road.

As a precaution, Greenbelt Middle School and Dora Kennedy French Immersion School had delayed dismissals. Officers were stationed at each school to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Greenbelt police said there was no current belief that the public was at risk.

The investigation remains active and evolving.

Residents in the area should follow police instructions and avoid the scene while officers continue their response.

This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
