TOWSON, Md. (WBFF) — A handler and photographer were indicted Monday on a dozen felony counts collectively, including aggravated animal cruelty, after Baltimore County Police seized two exotic primates they allegedly used for photo shoots with clients.
Handler Jayden Evans, 25, of Middle River, and photographer Vernon Crowfey III, 32, of Baltimore, were briefly taken into custody in mid-July and later released on recognizance and a $5,000 bond, respectively.
Their indictments this week include 23 charges each, with several more animal cruelty counts than the men were initially arrested on. For one alleged photo shoot at Towson Town Center, where police say a ring of fire was lit three times inside a parking garage, both men also face second-degree arson and malicious burning charges.
According to charging documents, Baltimore County Police posing as customers carried out a sting at Evans’ apartment last month and recovered a lemur and an infant spider monkey allegedly brought to Maryland from North Carolina.
